2025 Esso Cup Legacy Fund Awards $79,000 to Local Organizations
Lloydminster AB/SK – The excitement and momentum from the 2025 Esso Cup, hosted in Lloydminster this past April, continues to leave a lasting mark on the community. The local Host Committee is proud to announce that $79,000 in Legacy Fund dollars will be distributed to organizations that are advancing femal hockey development throughout the region.
Bringing Canada’s National Women’s U18 Club Championship to Lloydminster was an incredible achievement, made possible through the commitment of volunteers, partners and the community at large.
Now, the Legacy Fund ensures that the impact of the 2025 Esso Cup extends far beyond the tournament, strengthening opportunities for female athletes for years to come.
The following initiatives will receive funding support:
-Female Post Secondary Player Scholarship
– Dressing Room at The Cenovus Energy Hub for Lakeland College Rustlers
-Dressing Room at The Cenovus Energy Hub for U18 AAA Steelers
-Female Hockey Development, including:
– Grassroots Female Hockey Programming; Player/Coach Development; Female Referee Development; Female Hockey Tournament Expenses; Elite Hockey Development
The 2025 Esso Cup was about more than just a championship, it was about inspiring the next generation! With this Legacy Fund, Lloydminster will continue to build on that momentum, creating more opportunities for girls and women in hockey at every level.
